On 18th April we introduced the world’s first consumer-friendly water recycling system Hydraloop® into New Zealand, with a demonstration of the first unit to be installed – in beautiful Piha!
Hydraloop is set to change the way people use water in New Zealand. It uses water twice, reducing total in-home water consumption by up to 45 per cent. It does this by recycling and cleaning water from showers, baths, and washing machines, using a revolutionary, patented six-step process. The treated water can then be used again for toilet flushing, washing machines, garden irrigation, and topping up swimming pools, providing clean, safe, and disinfected water that meets the highest international standards for commercial and residential uses.
The successful Hydraloop Launch demonstration was led by our special guest, Karl Mattheus, Technical Director of Hydraloop, who had travelled to NZ from Holland to talk to us. After presenting the product, Karl gave small groups live demonstrations of the installed Hydraloop in action. During the night, our guests flushed the toilet with recycled Hydraloop water and wouldn’t have even known if we hadn’t told them!
Says Jordan Ross, a specialist hydraulic consultant who attended the event: “It was great to be able to see a unit in operation. The event was well received and I enjoyed meeting some new faces. I can see that Hydraloop are striving for excellence in sustainability innovation. I can’t wait to see where they take it, and what it means for the future of sustainability options in New Zealand.”
Following the launch in Piha, we set out on a highly successful Hydraloop roadshow, showcasing the system in Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown, Tauranga, Hamilton and Auckland. The roadshow has been instrumental in creating awareness and driving positive change in the way we use and manage our precious blue tāonga. We’re excited at the large number of enquiries about the benefits of saving up to 45% on water usage that the roadshow generated.
