The Problem
Large roof areas of this stylish townhouse project required some stormwater attenuation to slow the release of water to the public stormwater infrastructure. The level of the stormwater pipe under the road was quite shallow, so underground storage was not a viable option.
The available ground area on the site was restricted, as the project had been carefully planned to make the most of the space.
The Solution
The client’s engineers at Envelope looked to the FenceTank as the most suitable option to both reduce the amount of land area required for the tanks, while also removing the need to install a fence between the houses where the tanks were installed.
The amount of water required could be cleverly split between two tank systems, catering for the roof runoff of 2 blocks of houses per system. This way the length of each system matched the boundary length between the units.
The Outcome
Two 4,000L tank systems were installed for a total of 8,000L of detention storage. The black coloured FenceTanks perfectly fit the space and aesthetic of the project and landscaping like the fencing and joinery, allowing the tank systems to blend in nicely with the surrounding environment.
The amount of land taken by the tank was split across the two blocks on either side, meaning the land lost to the tank system is almost non-existent. The shallow stormwater pipe was connected onto successfully and the outdoor areas of the houses were unaffected by the inclusion of the tank systems.
